I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry

This is the last post you will see on Friendster. I am officially switching to blogger.com for my blog.

I am sorry that Friendster annoys everyone with an email every time I post. If you want to keep up with what is going on with me, you will just have to remember to check on your own.

Roving mess

July 13th, 2005 by tomfosgard

Check out the articles on Rove in today’s Washington Post … one is called “Leak? What leak?” and another “Won’t Defend? Then Attack!”

Here is what is frustrating: The Republicans do a brilliant job of creating scandal where they want it and preventing scandal when they don’t. The Rove issue has outrage all over it … imagine what the Republicans would do with it if it were a Democrat in the President’s seat. Why and how are the Republicans so much more successful at this than the Democrats?

And … what can we do to encourage outrage? I feel like my opinion is useless. After all, I am a totally-out-of-the-mainstream-liberal-gay freak whose opinion is dismissed as extreme (it is not) and therefore dismissed. “Moveon,” once an increasingly powerful grassroots movement against Bush, is now cited by name and dismissed as extreme.

Truly, why does my opinion matter when I cannot find an organization that is effectively supporting my views? Am I expecting anything at all to come out of the Rove thing? Absolutely not. I will be shocked if Rove is fired or resigns. Nothing will change. Mark my words.

Friendster alerts - are you getting them? Do they bug you?

July 12th, 2005 by tomfosgard

I heard that each time I update my blog, my whole list of friends get an email from Friendster. This person was annoyed by it. If I update it 3-5 times per week, which is my goal, that is a lot of emails. Hit “comment” below this post if you have an opinion on it. I don’t want to bug people and I’m already thinking about switching where I host my blog.

Thanks! Tom

Live your life!

July 8th, 2005 by tomfosgard

I am constantly bothered by people who are scared of everything. People who think that if they imprison themselves in their own home that they will be safe from terrorists, murders & rapists. Is that any way to live?

One of my colleagues at Spherion is back in her homeland of Palistine visiting family. It makes me think how the Palestinians are faced with far greater potential danger on a daily basis.

Here is my philosophy: Live your life and hope that you are not in the wrong place at the wrong time. Chances are it will never happen. If you live in constant fear, you might as well die.

Coming up

July 4th, 2005 by tomfosgard

I’ve been thinking of a few things for upcoming posts.  Rather than keep them to myself, I thought I’d make a list here.  A few ideas that occurred to me over the weekend.

> Why are there so many fat people in Ohio?
> Dumb songs …. I heard some over the weekend and it got me thinking about my choices for dumbest songs ever.
> Columbus driving has been driving me nuts forever and I still have not vented about that!
> Fireworks … boring unless you have kids or you are really drunk
> Lamenting days of circuit parties
> Why I am pissed at the filmmaking industry

Hope you had a great weekend!

I’m lovin Wimbledon

Britain_wimbledon_tennissff_xwim145_2005_1I think there is just too much to do in San Francisco to take time to watch the Wimbledon coverage.  I love tennis and now that I live in Columbus, I can spend the hours each day watching Wimbledon.  I have thoroughly enjoyed it.

How can you not love Venus Williams.  Her smile just radiates.  When winning the ladies final today, Venus expressed joy that I rarely see expressed in any forum.  She is a joy to watch.

Andy Roddick is a joy to watch for a different reason (he’s hot).  He is also an intense competitor.  I was rooting for him and I’m pleased to see him in the finals!!

Why couldn’t she wait???

July 1st, 2005 by tomfosgard

Very disappointed that Sandra Day O’Connor could not wait so that George Bush was not able to appoint her successor! I am fully hoping for a Democratic president in the next election and think there is a good possibility of it. If not … I AM OUTTA HERE!

That means leaving the country. Seriously, there is a great chance I’ll be gone in two years.

Not only is Andy Roddick hot but he seems like a really genuine guy.  He’s been winning this Wimbledon, but he has had struggles including today:  Roddick at MSNBC

No to commandments in the courthouse

June 27th, 2005 by tomfosgard

The thing that concerns me most about this ruling is that 4 judges actually thought that displaying them in the courthouse was appropriate! Court decisions on ten commandments
